Seattle-Area and National Chain Restaurants Helpful for Food Allergies

If you have food allergies you can still enjoy dining out. Of particular note, Mexican, Thai, and Vietnamese restaurants usually have many offerings on the menu that will allow you to avoid your food allergy, and you can have them simply leave things (such as the cheese on many Mexican foods) off a particular dish to increase your options .

Those interested in specifically gluten-free restaurants should check out the web site of the
Gluten-Free Restaurant Awareness Program® a service of the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America.

The following restaurants provide service or menu options to help you with your food allergy. Some even specialize in gluten, dairy, and/or egg free offerings:

Arby's ®
Various Locations across the US

Believe it or not, Arby's ®, famous for fast food, has published ingredients lists and allergen information on their website. The allergen page is fairly basic, listing only major allergens, but it may be just enough for you. The allergen page is HERE. The complete list of ingredients is in two major parts: The first part lists which foods are in each food, for example, a hamburger has a bun, paddy, lettuce, etc. The lower section (you have to scroll way down) has the actual ingredients (flour, yeast, etc.). Check it out HERE. It is 19 pages long, but you should be able to determine what you can eat at Arby's ® .

As the fast food restaurants strive to respond to the public demand for more information they are getting better at providing at least some of the info that those with allergies need. Burger King ® is yet another that is now providing a limited set of information on some common allergens. Their allergen page (Click Here) has information on which menu items contain: egg, fish, milk, peanuts, shellfish, soy, soy lecithin, tree nuts, and/or wheat.
